Dr. Spencer F. Maddox is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and has practiced at the Eye Center of Central Georgia since 1993.
A native of Macon, he earned his undergraduate degree from Mercer University, and his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. His postgraduate internship and residency were completed at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. He completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Atlanta's Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.
Dr. Maddox is the only pediatric ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained adult strabismus surgeon in Middle and South Georgia. He and his father, Fleetwood Maddox, MD (retired), have provided over 50 years of exemplary care to thousands of patients from all over the state of Georgia and beyond. Dr. Maddox is bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish. He began performing refractive surgery in 1993.
In addition to refractive, adult strabismus and pediatric surgery, he also performs cataract surgery at the Eye Center of Central Georgia's onsite surgery center.
