Why Is The Free LASIK Consultation Important?

Whether or not LASIK is right for your eyes can only be determined by a LASIK examination, which should include multiple scans of your eye to map your exact vision characteristics. The Eye Center of Central Georgia provides this as a free service because it is necessary to determine if LASIK will work for you. The entire process takes about 60 minutes.

The Health of Your Eyes

No two eyes are the same. The thickness of your cornea, the health of your eye, the amount of refractive error, and the effects of aging all play a part in determining whether your eyes are well-suited for LASIK. You can’t guess at these things and neither can the doctor - you both have to take the time to find out for sure, and it’s time very well invested.

No Sales Pressure

On average, an experienced and conscientious LASIK surgeon will reject up to 20% of applicants due to general eye health or condition of the cornea. The doctors at the Eye Center of Central Georgia won’t be pressuring you into a hasty or unwise decision. The purpose of the LASIK Evaluation is to find out IF you’re a good candidate. Then it’s up to you to decide what your next step should be.

Financing Options

The financing options for LASIK have never been better and can mean the difference between enjoying sharp, clear high-definition vision now, versus waiting until you’ve saved up the money. Getting a quality procedure from a highly accredited and experienced surgeon is worth paying more for, and learning about the many financing options available is another important part of the consultation process. You can also find out about insurance plan discounts and using your FLEX spending or Medical Savings Account to pay for your LASIK procedure.

What Happens After The FREE LASIK Consultation At The Eye Center of Central Georgia?

Once it has been determined that you are a candidate, an Eye Center of Central Georgia staff member will discuss payment and financing options with you. At first glance LASIK may seem expensive but ‘0% Interest for up to 18 Months’ Payment Plans can bring the numbers down quickly into comfortable ranges, usually equal to the daily cost of a cup of coffee. For more information see our Payment and Pricing page.

Pre-operative Exam

Once you have decided to bring your vision into the 21st century with LASIK and scheduled your procedure, you will undergo an extensive, 90-minute exam. This exam supplies us with all the additional data to provide you with a fully customized treatment. We will also review the Informed Consent documents and all of your post-operative instructions. Our goal is to answer every question you may have, fully and to your satisfaction by the end of your pre-op exam.

Surgery Day

You should arrive 45 minutes prior to your surgery. Upon check-in, we will review and have you sign the consent form, and handle payment for the procedure. If you are nervous, we will provide relaxation medication. We will then recheck your examination results for final accuracy before treatment. The actual LASIK procedure only takes about 5 minutes per eye. You will not be able to drive immediately after the procedure, so make sure you have someone available to take you home afterwards.

Post-Operative Care

Included in the cost of your LASIK procedure at the Eye Center of Central Georgia are a series of post-operative exams, the first of which will be on the day following your procedure. The remainder of these follow-up exams will be scheduled one-week, three months, six months and one year after your procedure. These are provided at no additional charge from the Eye Center of Central Georgia. You may notice during the brief healing period that your vision fluctuates periodically and you may experience some mild dryness. These symptoms are normal and will disappear over time.
